66주년 6.25행사 기념사, 영어 및 한글

Good Morning ! 
Ladies and Gentleman, distinguished guests, and Members of the Veterans of the Korean War, My name is Oh Young Lee. I am the president of the Korean Veterans Association in the Philadelphia region. I’d like to welcome you to the 66^th memorial ceremony of the Korean War.

  I would like to recognize and thank our special guests, 1) Keynote Speaker Honorable Judge Pat Dugan, 
2) Consul Keon Wha Kim from the Korean Consulate in New York. 
3) City Councilman David Oh, 4) Mr. William Kelly, Board Chairman of the Korean War Memorial at Penn’s Landing.

As you know, 66 years ago, when South Korea was invaded by Kim Il Sung of the communist North Korea, the United States defended my country and saved South Korea from becoming the victims of a communist regime. 

The brave Members of the veterans of Korean war like you sacrificed your lives for a country that many never even heard of before. 
American casualties numbered 45,116 including Deaths, Missing, War Prisoner and 92,130 wounded.  These numbers are somberly staggering. 

But it was because of this extreme sacrifice that Korea was able to rise up to become a strong independent and prosperous country. 
Today, Korea is a vibrant economic power and enjoys the fruits of a free democratic society. 
All of this would not have been possible without the United States caring so much for a little known country, on the opposite side of the world. 

Korea humbly recognizes America’s ultimate sacrifice.  Even today, as news of North Korea threat continues to emerge, we are comforted by the fact that the United States and Korea are partnered to overcome tyranny. 

Today’s ceremony is a reminder of the sacrifice of the young men and woman of our country and to reinforce our dedication to that resolve. 
I pray for continued health and prosperity of the United States and Korea. May God bless all of you here as well.

* 66주년 6.25전쟁 기념행사 한국인을 위한 메시지

안녕하세요? 반갑습니다.
앞에서 영어로 말씀 드렸기 때문에, 더이상 길게 말씀 드리지 않고 “세가지 메시지”를 추가하면서 기념사에 대신하려 합니다.

첫째 여기 계시는 참전 용사 여러분들께서는 66년전 우리의 조국 대한민국이 위난에 처했을 때, 젊음과 목숨을 초개같이 바쳐 나라를 지키신 호국영웅들입니다. 
이런 의미에서 다시 한번 참전 용사 여러분들께 진심으로 깊은 감사를 드리는 바입니다. 아울러 조국 대한민국정부에서 참전 용사님들에게 ‘호국영웅기장’을 보내 왔기에 오늘 여러분에게 직접 수여 할 순서를 가질 예정입니다.

두 번째 오늘날 6.25의 참된 의미가 점점 퇴색해가는 시기에, 한국전에서 희생된 고귀한 호국영령들의 넋을 위로하고 한반도에서 다시는 이러한 비극의 재발되지 않도록 새로운 각오를 다지자는 의미에서 오늘 이같은 자리를 마련했습니다. 남다른 조국애와 뜨거운 동포애을가 없이는 고달픈 이민 생활중에 이런 자리에 함께 할수 없음을 믿는 저이기에 이 자리를 빌어 참석하신 여러분에게 깊은 감사와 경의를 드립니다.

세 번째 한반도는 6.25전쟁이 일어난 지 66년이 흘렀음에도 아직까지 지구상에 한민족이 남과 북으로 분단되어 대치국가로 유일하게 존재하고 음은 안타까고 가슴 아픈일입니다. 이러한 현실을 직시하면서, “안보가 바로서야 나라가 바로 선다” “안보 없이는 국가발전도, 평화통일도 이룰 수 없다”라는 평법한 상식을 바탕으로 비록 미국에 살고 있는 우리지만 오늘 이자리가 아픈역사를 되풀이 하지않겠다는 다짐의 자리가 되기를 바라면서 기념인사에 대 하려 합니다.  감사합니다.
